United Commercial Bank organizes Hajj Agency Conference to enhance Hajj services

United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) organized a Hajj Agency Conference at a local hotel in Chattogram on Tuesday, 03 March 2026.
The conference was arranged to further strengthen partnerships with Hajj agencies and ensure improved and seamless services for pilgrims, according to a media release.
Mr. Abul Alam Ferdous, Additional Managing Director of UCB, attended the program as the Chief Guest. The Special Guests included Mr. Alhaj Shariat Ullah Shahid, Chairman of the Chattogram Zonal Committee and Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB); and Mr. Alhaj Mohammed Abdul Malek, Secretary of the Chattogram Zonal Committee and Joint General Secretary of the Central Committee of HAAB.
Also present were UCB’s Head of the Chattogram Metro Region, Head of the SME & Agri Banking Division, senior officials of the bank, and representatives from leading Hajj agencies in Chattogram.
In his speech, Mr. Abul Alam Ferdous stated that Hajj is a highly sensitive and sacred religious obligation, and UCB remains committed to ensuring secure and timely financial services for pilgrims.
He mentioned that through its 423 branches and sub-branches and more than 602 agent banking outlets nationwide, the bank has been successfully providing Hajj services for the past four years and currently stands as the fifth largest bank in Hajj operations in the country. Starting with services to 61 agencies, the number increased to 107 in 2026, with a target to bring more than 200 agencies under its service network by 2027.
The conference also highlighted new initiatives aimed at making Hajj operations easier and more secure. It was announced that a dedicated team would work closely with agencies to ensure prompt resolution of any financial matters, the release adds.
