Bangladesh is home to nearly 400 entities, including autonomous, self-regulated, state-owned, statutory organisations or their affiliates, which have more than 400,000 officers and employees.
Among these organisations and institutions are Dhaka University and all public universities, Sadharan Bima Corporation and all corporations, Petrobangla, Export Development Bureau (EPB), Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Universal Pension Scheme with four products—Pragati, Surokkha, Samata and Probashi—on August 17 last year.
All citizens aged between 18 and 50 years, including expatriate Bangladeshis, are eligible to enjoy the scheme.
