US-based Bringia Energy Global LLC (BEG) and Canada-based Disruptive Hydrogen Technology (DHT) have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) to produce green diesel and sustainable aviation fuel utilising waste in Chattogram.

Under the terms of the MOU, the BEG and DHT will jointly produce around 45 million to 60 million gallons of environmentally friendly green diesel and sustainable aviation fuel annually processing 3,000 tonnes of waste to be provided by CCC.

The MoU was signed at the CCC office on Wednesday, where Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain inked on behalf of CCC and president of BEG, Ziaur R Chowdhury and president of DHT Asia Pacific inked the MoU on behalf of their respective companies.

“This project represents a significant advancement towards achieving sustainable and profitable waste management for the CCC,” said the CCC Mayor during the MoU signing ceremony.

Upon successful implementation, waste will be transformed into valuable resources opening new opportunities within the country’s energy sector, he said.

This is the first such initiative in Asia, said the BEG President Ziaur R Chowdhury.

“We are fully prepared to begin operations utilizing technology developed by our parent company, DHT, and supported by our own investment,” he said.

Chattogram holds significant potential to become a model city for green energy in South Asia, Mr Chowdhury added.
