USTC hosts international seminar on Sustainable Business tomorrow

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 2: The Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC) will host its inaugural international seminar titled "Sustainable Business and Technology Development in Building Smart Bangladesh (ISSBT 2023)" on Saturday.
Over fifty researchers, academicians, and industry experts hailing from 11 countries, including Russia, the UK, Germany, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Senegal, Turkey, Kazakhstan, India, and Bangladesh, will present their cutting-edge research papers at the seminar.
Dr. Mohammad Salim Uddin, a professor from Chittagong University, will be delivering the keynote address. Dr. Aysmontas Bronyus, a recipient of the Russian Federation National Award and a professor at Moscow State University of Psychology, will participate in the seminar remotely.
During a press conference held at the university campus on Thursday afternoon, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Solaiman, Vice Chancellor of USTC, revealed that the event would be attended by representatives from prominent public and private institutions, including Islami Bank Bangladesh Plc, Union Bank, Exim Bank, South East Bank, Rupali Bank, Janata Bank, BSRM, GPH, SA Group, Midas, Chittagong Stock Exchange, and Padma Oil.
Furthermore, 10 faculty members from USTC's Business Administration Faculty, 3 BBA students, and 10 MBA students will also present their research papers.
In reply to a query, Dr. Solaiman emphasized that the university played a crucial role in knowledge generation, which is primarily achieved through research. He mentioned the establishment of a research center within the university and the allocation of Tk 50 million (5 crore) to support students and faculty members in their research pursuits. The seminar aims to inspire researchers to wholeheartedly engage in research activities.
Keynote speaker Professor Dr. Md. Salim Uddin underscored the rapid growth of Bangladesh's economy, emphasizing the need for sustainable business practices to ensure long-term growth. He elaborated the seminar's main focus, which centers on cultivating businesses that thrive without causing harm to the environment, leveraging technology to build a Smart Bangladesh by 2041.
The press conference was attended by Prof. Dr. Nurul Abser, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dilip Kumar Barua, Registrar, Dr. Mohammad Sahabuddin, Dean of the Business Administration Faculty, and faculty members.
Located in the Pahartali area of Chattogram city, USTC stands as the second private university established in Bangladesh in 1992. It is one of the 13 private universities in Bangladesh to receive a permanent clearance certificate.
