The prices of vegetables, potatoes, and onions declined more over the past week, while those of chicken and eggs saw a small increase.
Most other commodities remained static at their previous highs, according to market sources.
Newly harvested seed onions (murikata) were sold at Tk 60-80 per kg, and the imported ones at Tk 70-85 per kg.
Onion prices fell by about 40-50 per cent in a week, market sources say.
On the other hand, chicken and egg prices increased slightly by around Tk 5.0 per kg and Tk 5.0 per dozen, respectively.
Traders described this as a normal weekly rise and fall.
Fewer buyers were seen on Friday morning in different markets of Dhaka due to cold weather.
Markets usually see bigger crowds on the weekend.
Traders said buyer turnout would increase later in the day.
Vendors said prices had come down as the supply of winter vegetables had increased notably, bringing relief to consumers.
Markets were full of fresh winter vegetables displayed neatly in shops.
As prices were affordable, buyers were able to purchase vegetables as needed.
At the Shekher Tek market, a buyer named Jitendra Barua said vegetable prices had stayed high for most of last year.
Many vegetables were available at Tk 30-40 a kg on Friday, and vegetables worth Tk 100 were enough for two to three days.
Medium-sized cauliflowers and cabbages sold for Tk 25-35 each, down from Tk 30-45 a week ago.
Country bean prices also dropped, and at least four varieties of it were available.
Newly arrived beans with big seeds sold at Tk 60-70 per kg, while other varieties cost Tk 30-50 a kg.
Just two to three weeks ago, new potatoes sold for Tk 100-120 per kg, which dropped sharply to Tk 25-30 per kg.
Radish sold at Tk 30-40 per kg.
Long brinjal prices fell by Tk 10 per kg to Tk 40-60 per kg.
Purple round brinjal prices declined to Tk 70-80 per kg from Tk 100.
Tomato prices fell to Tk 60-90 per kg.
Leafy vegetable prices also dropped, with spinach, red amaranth, radish leaves, and mustard greens selling at Tk 8.0-15 per bunch.
Farm egg prices had remained low for several weeks, though they increased slightly last week.
Brown eggs sold at Tk 115-125 per dozen, up by Tk 5.0.
The broiler chicken market remained stable, with prices at Tk 160-165 per kg.
Sonali chicken sold at Tk 250-270 per kg, up by Tk 5.0-10.
The prices of fish, beef, mutton, and grocery items remained unchanged at their previous high levels.
