Wärtsilä to supply engines for power plant in Bangladesh

Wärtsilä will supply the engines for a new 220 MW baseload power plant to be installed in Chandpur in Bangladesh.

Wärtsilä Energy Solutions is a leading global energy system integrator offering a broad range of environmentally sound solutions.

The plant will be set up by independent power producer Desh Energy Chandpur Power Company, according to a report published on www.poweronline.com.

After operational the plant will supply electricity to the national grid.

Desh Energy has given the contract to Wärtsilä Energy this month.

The full scope comprises twelve 18-cylinder Wärtsilä 50 engines running on heavy fuel oil.

Delivery of the Wärtsilä equipment is being made on a fast-track basis in line with the customer's required schedule of a nine month project implementation time.

The plant is due to be fully operational in May 2018 and the first delivery of the Wärtsilä engines will be made in November of this year, with the remainder to be delivered one month later.
