The three-day international industrial expo kicked off on Thursday in the city which is expected to help the local industries to contribute more with their innovations.
The expo titled ‘International Advanced Components and Technology (ATS) Expo-2023’ organised by the country’s one of the leading electronics manufacturers Walton.
The country’s first-ever industrial expo is being held at Hall-1 of the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital from August 10 to 12.
Addressing as the chief guest, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said that Walton is manufacturing every product needed in the electronics sector, reducing billion-dollar import expenses, contributing to employment creation and export earnings.

If Walton had not started producing electronics products, Bangladesh would have had to pay billions of dollars of import bills, he said, adding: “Walton is not only saving billions of dollars import costs but also contributing to the country's export income.”
Policy Research Institute of Bangladesh's Executive Director Ahsan H Mansur also addressed the event and said that the company has made a tremendous journey in terms of innovation and employment.
Some 50,000 products and spare parts are huge in number that were displayed in the exhibition, he added, urging Walton to strengthen their effort to gain more foreign buying orders and export to global markets.
Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Mahbubul Alam, terming the private sector as the core partner of an economy, appreciated the event organised by Walton.
He hoped that the mega arrangement would help the local industry to boom further.
And, for a sound business growth, we need business-friendly government and political stability. The incumbent business growth, including the growth of Walton is proof of such an environment in Bangladesh, the FBCCI's newly-elected president said.
He, however, emphasised uninterrupted power supply and business cost reduction, including in terms of taxation and others.
Among others, Walton High-Tech Industries PLC's Directors SM Mahbubul Alam and Nishat Tasnim Shuchi, Managing Director and CEO Golam Murshed, BSEC Chairman Prof Shibli Robayet-Ul Islam, Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Vice Chairman AHM Ahsan, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) President Sameer Sattar, Philippines Ambassador to Dhaka Leo Tito L Ausan, Jr addressed the event.
