A parliamentary watchdog has suggested the Bangladesh Bank to investigate further into the alleged irregularities and corruption in Farmers' Bank and NRB Commercial Bank.

It also called for ensuring the punishment of those involved to regain clients' trust, reports United News of Bangladesh.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance Ministry came up with the recommendations on Sunday during its 20th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its Chairman Md. Abdur Razzak in the chair.

The committee also suggested taking a decision in the next meeting over a bill to amend the Bank Company Act 1991 in presence of Finance Minister AMA Muhith.
Committee members State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan, Najmul Hasan, Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury, Farhad Hossain, M Shawkat Chowdhury and Akhter Jahan attended the meeting.
