Everyone should respect law

LAW is binding for every one without any exception. No matter how powerful one is, he or she has to pay dearly for violating law. This was evident from the recent action taken by the police authority against violators of traffic rules. Members of the law enforcing authorities stopped some vehicles which were being driven along the wrong side of the road. It was immediately known that the offending vehicles belonged to ministers, MPs, secretaries and other high ups in the government. Their vehicles were sued for violating traffic rules. The Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmud was present during the drive.

The politicians were inside their respective vehicles when the traffic police stopped their drivers for plying on the wrong side. In all 57 cases were filed during the drive while seven other vehicles were fined. At least 51 of the vehicles belonged to VIPs and influential people.

Now-a-days, vehicles carrying government officials, VIPs, lawmakers and ruling party leaders are regularly seen plying the wrong side of the road defying traffic rules in rush hours.

We sincerely hope, our Prime Minister will look into this matter immediately and issue necessary directives to the concerned authorities to bring to justice anybody found guilty of defying traffic rules and causing difficulties for others.
