THE world is still in a state of shock and terror at the Istanbul airport carnage that took away 36 lives. Three suicide bombers opened fire indiscriminately, killed people and then blew themselves up. We must condemn this ghastly incident in the bitterest language. Killing innocent people does not serve any purpose and only gives rise to hatred and mistrust among people. The world should build up a strong campaign against extremism and create widespread awareness among people to wipe out this evil from the world and make the planet a better place to live. We are living in a world where we judge human beings on the basis of colour, religion and politics and where there is a definite lack of trust among communities. We cannot fight this type of extremism with guns or bombs, rather we need to make our society free from poverty and illiteracy. Everyone of the world, no matter where he or she comes from, should be treated equally. Extreme poverty, injustice, illiteracy breed hatred and provide a fertile ground for militancy. Fight against extremism is not the war of a particular nation or race, it is a war of attrition for the world at large.
