Mob beating: Inhuman and barbaric

MOB beating is a common occurrence in our country. People tend to take law in their hands when a person is found allegedly guilty of some crime and beat him or her mercilessly. Mass beating of this nature sometimes leads to death of the alleged wrong-doer. While respecting the sentiment of the people, one should agree that it is against the laws of the land and should not be overlooked. No one has a right to punish a person for his or her alleged crime. We often find media reports on people dying from mob beating. Some people think if they hand over the criminals to the police, the criminals will soon go out free. This is not the right way to look at things. Law must prevail under any situation whatsoever and one should not take law in his own hand.  We often see innocent people getting killed by the mob. Innocent or not, no one should take law in their hands and beat another person in the name of doing justice. Increasing incidents of mob beating indicate deteriorating law and order situation in the society. We still remember vividly six young college students died in mob beating in Aminbazar, Mirpur in 2011 during the night of holy Shab-e-Barat. The families of the victims are yet to recover from the shocking murders of their beloved children. We cannot remain quiet when such incidents happen and claim ourselves to be a civilized nation if mob beating goes on.  We should create awareness among the people about the dangers of mob beating so that they refrain from resorting to such brutal and inhuman practices.
