Mobile library

MOBILE library is really a great idea as it is encouraging people to keep up the dying habit of reading books. I often find a mobile library near my house. I am told it comes once a week and young people, children and elderly people stand in a queue to collect books of their choice. I was particularly very happy to observe the enthusiasm among the local residents about books. It is not possible for everyone to go to market to buy books. Moreover, libraries are available in all markets and shopping malls. Mobile library provides an opportunity to read books almost free of cost as the library charges a monthly rent of Tk 10. One has to deposit Tk 200 at the beginning to become a member and then can borrow books worth up to Tk 250. This is a noble effort as a moving library comes to our doorsteps to entertain and enlighten us with books from all over the world. I convey my sincere thanks to Bishwa Shahitya Kendra for its noble effort to spread the light of education and knowledge among people. It is a non-profit organisation that promotes reading habit among the common people. We should read books ourselves and encourage our children to do so. Books help us build an enlightened society. I hope the mobile library facilities will be further expanded in other places across the country.
