Poor condition of roads in Dhaka

Published :

Updated :

Rains bring immense sufferings for the Dhaka city dwellers as roads like Uttar Badda Bazaar, Malibagh, Mouchak market and many others are in a dilapidated condition and it seems nobody is there to care about it.
Sometime I wonder if I am looking at the roads of a national capital or the surface of the moon! When the rain comes, vehicles and commuters have a very hard time to use these roads. Due to the poor condition, the roads always see traffic gridlock as vehicles move in a snail's pace.
Repair of the roads will ease sufferings of the commuters. Now Moghbazar road has been repaired. So we don't see much traffic jam there! The road was once notorious for its endless traffic jam.
I hope the city corporations will repair all the poor roads immediately so that the city dwellers can commute with ease and comfort.
Roads with ditches and potholes harm the durability of vehicles and are a cause of waste of our money.  Sometime when I commute in Dhaka I feel I am living in the 80s when I saw the sorry state of the Dhaka roads!
