Safety for women must be ensured

OUR country is becoming a difficult place for woman to live as they have to face all kinds of negative incidents like sexual harassment, stalking and eve-teasing. Parents are often compelled to take their daughters out of schools and marry them off at an early age. It is really unfortunate that in a country where the Prime Minster and the main opposition leader are women, their kinds are not safe. Women are being harassed and tortured in the capital itself, not to speak of those in the countryside. Very recently we saw a bright young girl Risha dying at the hands of a psychopath like Obaidul. Her death sparked off fiery demonstrations by the common people.
We should learn to respect and honour women as they are like our own mothers and sisters and daughters. Crimes like eve-teasing and stalking are considered petty offences. Often such petty crimes lead to fatal incidents like murder and rape.  Women should also move carefully and be well dressed. They should not imitate the western culture that encourages nudity and vulgarism in the name of modernity. We should be respectful to our culture and tradition and lead our life accordingly.
