Save the planet, meet climate emergency

There is no alternative to living in a healthy ecosystem, hygienic environment, and usual weather as per the seasonal categorisation.   Climate change occurs when changes in Earth's climate system results in new weather patterns that remain in place for an extended period of time even for millions of years. The shifting weather patterns threaten food production, worsen global warming, cause rising sea levels that increase the risk of catastrophic flooding. It endangers the whole ecosystem which has poses a big threat not only to human beings but also animals, plants, all living organism. If any drastic actions are not taken today, adapting to these impacts in the future will become more difficult and costly.

The Amazon rainforest and the Arctic tundra are approaching thresholds of dramatic changes through global warming and drying. Mountain glaciers are in an alarming position and the downstream effects of reduced water supply in the driest months will be severe.

As for Bangladesh, it is important to develop the country to remain in the race of development and better living standard. In the process, we are unfortunately focusing more on industrialisation and are rather less concerned about keeping a safe environment. Felling of trees, burning of  forests, polluting air, contaminating seas, and indiscriminate use of plastics all are making the environment unhealthy.

We need to save our world from natural disasters, need to save our natural resources, need to make green healthy ecosystem, need to save our future generation. All government, autonomous bodies, international and local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) need to show commitment on adapting to climate impacts and building resilience for the future.

Women Entrepreneur Association of Bangladesh (WEAB) is very keen to step up for this climate emergency and keen to work to prevent this crisis. WEAB has undertaken two projects  - one in 14 northern districts particularly to develop women farmers and the other 9 (nine) southern districts on Securing Water for Food (SWF). WEAB is planting trees in coastal areas for creating a better eco environment.

The young people have realised the danger of climate change and raised their voices to save the planet, to make our future life livable. It's a very effective movement to make a better life in the future and to save our future generation.

We should become united globally and need to wake up to the climate crisis.
