Swimming: A useful workout with immense health benefits

Swimming is a very effective exercise and although urban life deprives us of this useful work out. Honestly speaking, many of the present-day children who live in cities do not know how to swim. The parents can help them to learn swimming as it will be a valuable lesson in their life. Swimming is a good way of workout for our full body. When we are in the water our body weighs only 20 per cent of our body weight and we have a greater ease in movement and flexibility.
Thus swimming actually is a pleasurable activity and also helps to stay fit and healthy. Water is 800 times denser than air and so when we are in water, we work harder and burn more calories without knowing it. Swimming helps improve the psychological well-being also. Different swimming styles help to strengthen different body parts. If our children do not know how to swim, they will be missing a major fun activity, which may on some day prove to be a life saving skill. Swimming increases our endurance capacity, enhances physical flexibility, strengthens our heart and reduces stress level. Workout in a gym may appear boring for some, but swimming is outright a fun. Let us make swimming a part of our regular life and enjoy it thoroughly.
