At least eleven terrorists were killed in an airstrike near Al Uwaynat in Libya on Thursday, US Africa Command (AFRICOM) claimed responsibility on Saturday.

"In coordination with the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA), US Africa Command conducted a precision air strike near Al Uwaynat, Libya," the AFRICOM said in a statement.

The statement said that 11 al-Qaida members were killed and three vehicles were destroyed. The statement said that no civilians were injured or killed, reports Xinhua.

"AFRICOM will use precision strikes to deny terrorists safe haven in Libya,” said US Marine Corps Major General Gregg P. Olson, director of the AFRICOM operations.

“We will keep pressure on their network, and they remain vulnerable wherever they are," he said.

Local media reported on Thursday that an unidentified warplane killed several militants near the southern Libyan city of Ghat.
