Trump irked by ‘purposefully distorted’ portrait of himself

US President Donald Trump has slammed the governor of Colorado State, Jared Polis, for hanging a ‘purposefully distorted’ presidential portrait in the state Capitol building.

In a late-night Truth Social rant on Sunday, Trump wrote, “Nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the State Capitol, put up by the Governor, along with all other Presidents, was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before.”

British news outlet Independent said Colorado Republicans raised over $10,000 to commission the portrait by artist Sarah Boardman, which was unveiled in 2019 during the president’s first term.

Taking aim at the artist, Trump said, “The artist also did President Obama, and he looks wonderful, but the one on me is truly the worst. She must have lost her talent as she got older.”

Along with calls to remove the painting, Trump alleged that furious Colorado natives had complained about the portrait and were urging state officials to pull it down.

“I am speaking on their behalf to the Radical Left Governor, Jared Polis, who is extremely weak on Crime, in particular with respect to Tren de Aragua, which practically took over Aurora (Don’t worry, we saved it!), to take it down,” he continued. “Jared should be ashamed of himself!”

However, a spokesperson for the governor’s office thanked the president for his interest in the State Capitol and its artwork.
