Explosion damages school wall, shops in New Delhi’s Rohini

A mysterious explosion has rocked the area near a school in the Indian capital of New Delhi, according to Indian media reports.

The blast, which occurred around 7:47am on Sunday, was powerful enough to damage the wall of the CRPF School, along with nearby shop windows and a parked car, reports bdnews24.com citing Times Of India.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Informed of the matter, authorities rushed to the scene and secured the vicinity of the blast.

Upon arrival, police discovered a foul smell emanating from the damaged school wall alongside shattered windows and a wrecked car.

Authorities cordoned off the area, and a team of experts, including forensic and bomb disposal units, have been deployed to investigate the cause of the blast. The Fire Brigade was also present at the site.

Broadcaster NDTV reports that a video recorded by a local resident showed smoke billowing from near the blast site.

"I was at home. I heard a loud sound, saw a cloud of smoke and recorded the video. I don't know anything more. A police team and an ambulance have reached the spot," the witness told NDTV.
