Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, a scion of India's Nehru-Gandhi dynasty, took oath as a Lok Sabha MP on Thursday following her win in the recent byelection to the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency.
She took the plunge into active politics at a difficult time for the party in 2019 and was later appointed Congress general secretary, as per Indian media reports.
With her entry into Parliament, three members of the Gandhi family are now MPs. While the siblings are Lok Sabha members, Sonia Gandhi entered the Rajya Sabha after opting out of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Priyanka Gandhi took affirmation in Hindi while holding a copy of the Constitution soon after the House met.
