Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a joint press conference earlier on Thursday.

Al-Thani, who is also Qatar's foreign minister, said that Iran had destroyed Qatar's trust with its "aggression," and that trust needed to be rebuilt.

He added that Qatar retained its right under international law to respond to Iran's attacks on LNG facilities.

Fidan said Tehran's attacks on regional countries were unacceptable, and that while Israel was the main perpetrator of the war, Iran had a "historic responsibility" not to attack regional countries.

He added Ankara was in contact with both Washington and Tehran to understand where they stood, and that Turkey's efforts to end the conflict would continue.
