Tata Group announces INR10 million compensation for each victim’s family in Air India crash

Tata Group has announced INR10 million in compensation for the families of each victim killed in the Air India plane crash near Ahmedabad, India. Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran made the announcement Thursday evening, according to The Economic Times and BBC reports.
Air India, owned by Tata Group, stated that it will cover all medical expenses for the injured and help rebuild the damaged hostel of B J Medical College.
The Boeing Dreamliner aircraft, carrying 242 passengers, crashed into a hospital building shortly after takeoff for London’s Gatwick Airport. Casualty figures remain unconfirmed as rescue operations continue, but most on board are feared dead.
Tata Group reacquired Air India from the Indian government in 2022 for INR180 billion, aiming to modernise and restore customer trust in the airline.
