The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of India has surged ahead in around two-thirds of seats in the West Bengal legislative assembly elections, pointing to a dominant position in the race.
According to the Election Commission of India website, the BJP is leading in 195 seats, while Trinamool Congress (TMC) is ahead in 92. No final results have been declared.
Indian media outlets also show the BJP leading in most constituencies.
Anandabazar reports the BJP ahead in 192 seats, with TMC in 95.
Hindustan Times puts the BJP at 198 seats and TMC at 78.
NDTV shows the BJP ahead in 195 seats, with TMC at 92.
Of 294 seats, results from 293 will be declared on Monday as counting for one seat has been postponed. A party needs 147 seats to form a government.
