The United Kingdom will host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in April when leaders from all the member countries are expected to gather in London and Windsor.

They will come together to reaffirm common values, address the shared global challenges they face and agree how to work to create a better future for all our citizens, particularly young people, reports UNB.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to attend the CHOGM and officials in Dhaka are taking preparations to that end, said an official.

The Commonwealth is a diverse community of 52 nations that work together to promote prosperity, democracy and peace.

The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting will cement the shared aims of good governance, sustainable growth, and inclusive social and economic development, said Secretary-General Patricia Scotland.

The Commonwealth is home to 2.4 billion people, a third of the world's population, with developed and developing countries, small states and vulnerable nations and where 60 per cent are under the age of 30.

This is the first Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting under the leadership of Secretary-General Scotland.
