Russia describes US sanctions on Venezuela oil company as illegal

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has described US sanctions, imposed on Venezuela’s state oil company, as illegal.

The Russian foreign minister said the sanctions amounted to an attempt by the United States to confiscate Venezuelan state assets, reports Reuters.

Lavrov also informed that Russia will take all necessary steps to support the administration of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
