In an emailed message to US citizens in Qatar, the embassy has recommended they shelter in place until further notice, Al Jazeera reports.
The recommendation was “out of an abundance of caution”, it was quoted as saying, without offering further information.
The Gulf state is home to the sprawling Al Udeid Air Base, which houses some 10,000 troops and serves as the forward headquarters for US Central Command, or CENTCOM, according to the report.
