Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday he had met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to work on a common plan to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

“No-one is interested in the continuation and quick return of the war except for Putin, so it is important to maintain unity around Ukraine and strengthen the position of our state in cooperation with allies - European countries and the USA,” Zelensky wrote on Telegram.

“Ukraine needs peace backed by reliable security guarantees,” he said.
