Bangladesh has been ranked 29th out of 30 countries for hiring freelancers, according to the latest 'Best Countries for Hiring Freelancers 2024' list published by CEOWorld Magazine.
The country, once a top-listed outsourcing destination, has failed to secure a place among the top 25 countries for freelancing and online outsourcing.
It lags behind India and Pakistan, with a score of 46.92, according to global and local media reports.
There are about 1.57 billion freelancers in the world. The freelancing platform market is estimated to be worth $3.39 billion, said the magazine.
Freelancers worldwide earn an average of $21 per hour. About 70 per cent of them are 35 or younger, it said.
The top three countries in the list are the USA, India and the UK with scores of 97.46, 95.71 and 94.81 respectively.
China and Pakistan are ranked 22nd and 28th with scores of 56.31 and 48.56 respectively. Nigeria is the 30th country with a score of 45.93.
