Bangladesh got $23.92 billion in inward remittances in the recently passed financial year (FY24), with a record volume of $2.54 billion coming in June 2024, official data showed.

With the latest monthly data, the country facing multiple macroeconomic strains amid the forex dearth saw 10.70 per cent growth in remittance earnings in the just-ended fiscal year (FY’24) in comparison with the previous fiscal year (FY'23), when the nation bagged $21.61 billion from Bangladeshi people working abroad.

The inflow of remittances in June was the highest in 47 months since July 2021, as Bangladeshi expatriates riding on higher gains because of the recent depreciation of local currency sent more money to their relatives on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
