S Alam’s assets can be used to return depositors’ money: BB governor

Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Ahsan H Mansur has urged all to refrain from purchasing assets of Mohammed Saiful Alam, owner of S Alam Group.

Saiful Alam is accused of looting money from some banks controlled by his group through irregularities.

“Legally, we cannot stop sales of S Alam’s assets. I am requesting the countrymen not to buy his assets as we want to return the money of depositors from the assets following the legal process,” the governor said at a press conference at the central bank headquarters on Wednesday.
