Bangladesh’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth declined significantly to 1.81 per cent in the first quarter (July-September) of the current fiscal year, compared to 6.04 per cent during the same period last year, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
In market prices, the GDP size was recorded at Tk 12.666 trillion during this period, it said.
Sector-wise, the agriculture sector grew by 0.16 per cent, the manufacturing sector by 2.13 per cent and the services sector, which contributes more than 50 per cent of the economy, expanded by 1.54 per cent in the first quarter.
