47 students to compete for each seat in DU admission test

47 admission seekers will compete for each seat in the admission test under the 2023-24 academic session of Dhaka University.

A total of 278,996 admission seekers have registered against 5965 seats of four units of the admission tests, the sources of the online admission examination committee of the university said.

This year, 122,080 applicants will vie for 1851 seats in the Science unit (66 aspirants per seat), while 112,225 students will fight for 2934 seats in the Arts, Law and Social Sciences unit (38 applicants per seat). 

37,660 students registered for 1040 seats in the Business Studies unit (36 students per seat), and 7038 students will sit for 130 seats in the Charukala unit (54 students per seat).

The online application deadline started on December 18, 2023 and ended on January 5.

The admission test will start on February 23 under the Arts, Law, and Social Science unit.

The admission test for the Business studies unit will take place on February 24, the Science unit on March 1, and the Charukala unit on March 9.

All unit exams will be held from 11 AM to 12:30 PM. Except for the Charukala unit, admission tests for three units will be held in eight divisional cities, including Dhaka. 

The centres are Rajshahi University, Chittagong University, Barisal University, Khulna University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh Agricultural University and Begum Rokeya University.

Students will be evaluated based on a total of 120 marks on the admission test. Out of this, 100 marks will be given in the admission test, and 20 marks will be based on the results of secondary or equivalent and higher secondary or equivalent examinations.

The Admission Test 2023–24 will consist of MCQs and written questions. A total of 100 marks in the entrance exam: 60 for MCQ and 40 for written. There will be 45 minutes allotted for the MCQ exam and 45 minutes for the written exam for three units except Charukala.

40 marks multiple choice and 60 marks drawing tests will be conducted only in the Charukala unit.

Calculators, mobile phones, and any mobile communication devices are prohibited in the exam hall, and a mobile court will be on duty during the examinations.
