The admission test for Bachelors (Honours) of Jahangirnagar University for the academic year 2022-23 commenced today.
On the first day of this year's entrance exam, the examination of the Institute of Business Studies (IBA-JU), 'C-1' Unit under the Department of Fine Arts and Department of Drama and Dramatics and 'C' Unit under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Bangabandhu Institute of Comparative Literature and Culture (BICLC) has been held.
The admission test started at 9 am with the IBA entrance exam and ended at 5 pm with the examination of the C Unit in six shifts.
The Institute's Director and the Faculty's Dean reported that the attendance rate for the IBA examination was 71 per cent, while the attendance rates for the 'C-1' and 'C' units were 70 and 80 per cent, respectively. They also assured that the exam results would be published by tomorrow morning.
Professor Dr Md. Mozammel Hoque, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, expressed satisfaction with the attendance rate during the examination. He said, "Three and a half thousand students out of five thousand in 'C-1' have appeared. In the 'C' unit, about 80 per cent of students have appeared."
Professor Dr Md. Nurul Alam, the Vice-Chancellor, visited different examination centres during the ongoing examination. While visiting the Faculty of Social Sciences examination centre, the Vice-Chancellor remarked, "The examination is being conducted in a pleasant environment, and no untoward incidents have occurred. I wish the examination would proceed without any issues and be successfully completed."
To ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the admission test, the university administration has implemented enhanced security measures within the campus. A total of 150 armed police personnel and plainclothes officers, along with an additional 60 Ansar members, have been deployed at different locations across the campus to ensure comprehensive order and security.
Discipline within various buildings is being ensured with the involvement of 120 BNCC and Rover Scout members.
On Monday (19 June), the admission examination of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Law under the 'B' unit will take place in the first four shifts, while the examination of the Faculty of Business Studies under the 'E' unit will be held in the last two shifts.
