UK-based education magazine Times Higher Education has published the 'Asia University Ranking-2024' on its official website. Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) is ranked 3rd among the country's universities in the published ranking. BAU has topped the country with 34.8 marks in the teaching category.

In the published list, 21 universities in Bangladesh were placed, but only nine universities have been ranked.

BAU is at the top of the 351-400 groups in this year's ranking. Besides, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and Jahangirnagar University (JU) are in the 301-350 group ranking. This year's ranking has been done with  739 universities from 31 Asian countries.

The list of the best universities in Asia, a product of meticulous evaluation, considers several crucial factors. These include teaching quality, primary research, methods of knowledge distribution, and the universities' international outlook.

This comprehensive approach ensures the credibility and reliability of the rankings. BAU's scores on the list are 34.8 in teaching, 11.6 in a research environment, 46.7 in research quality, 22.6 in industry, and 49.5 in international outlook.

Vice-Chancellor of BAU, Prof. Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury, said I hope BAU will be better in the world rankings. The great strength of the university is education. Our first job is to teach. BAU is working very strongly in education and research. Although the mean number of research studies seems low, BAU is making an incomparable contribution to agricultural research. Mainly because the citations are low, the number is low.

This year, China's Tsinghua University and Peking University are at the top for the fifth consecutive time in the ranking of the best universities in Asia. Among the top ten are five universities from China, two from Hong Kong, two from Singapore, and one from Japan.
