DU VC returns home from Japan

Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal returned home on Friday (April 26) after an 11-day official visit to Japan at the invitation of the authorities of Kobe University, Kyushu University and Ehime University.

During this visit, Prof Kamal held talks of mutual interests with his counterparts and higher authorities of Kobe University, Kyushu University and Ehime University regarding the expansion of joint research and academic collaboration programmes, exchange of faculties, researchers and students among the Dhaka University and these three leading Japanese universities. 

Besides, the DU VC delivered a series of lectures on ‘International Disaster Risk Management’ at Graduate School of International Co-operation Studies of Kobe University. 

Prof Kamal met the President of Kyushu University Prof Dr Tatsuro Ishibashi and exchanged views, shared knowledge and held bilateral discussions with him and other high officials regarding further strengthening the ongoing joint collaborative academic, research, innovation, culture and other programmes between DU and Kyushu University. 

The DU VC also visited Ehime University (EU) and held bilateral discussions with its President Prof Dr Hiroshige Nishina, Vice-President Prof Dr Kazuhiro Mitsunobu and other higher authorities regarding the possibilities of undertaking joint international exchange and research collaboration between DU and EU.  

Prof Kamal also visited different historical places including Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park of Japan during this tour. He left for Japan on April 16.
