Jahangirnagar University (JU) has announced the schedule for the first-year undergraduate admission tests for the 2024-25 academic year.
This year, unlike in previous years, all six faculties and three institutes will conduct separate tests for the admission of new students.
The tests are expected to be held over an 11-day period, starting from February 9 and continuing until February 19.
A total of ten units will conduct their respective exams during this period of time.
The application process will begin on January 1, 2024, and will remain open until January 21, 2024.
Students will be required to submit their applications online through the university’s designated portal.
The decision regarding the admission test schedule and application process was finalised at a meeting of the Admissions Activities Committee held on Thursday.
After the meeting, Syed Mohammad Ali Reza, the Member Secretary of the CAMC and Deputy Registrar (Academic), confirmed it.
Similar to last year, second-time applicants will be eligible to sit for the exams, and the university has also eased the unit-based eligibility criteria to ensure broader access for candidates.
It has been reported that the quota for grandchildren of freedom fighters will not be included in this year’s admission process.
However, there has been no change to the preferential quota for the children and relatives of university teachers, officials, employees, and the Vice-Chancellor’s quota, which has caused dissatisfaction among current students advocating for quota reform at the university.
But the officials said a decision on other quotas is expected to be announced soon.
