Jahangirnagar University (JU) students have continued their protests for quota reforms in government jobs.

Nationwide marches took place Friday afternoon, while JU students held a torch march and protest rally at 7:45 pm against the attacks on quota activists.

The students demanded the swift identification and prosecution of those responsible for Thursday's attacks on students in various parts of the country.

Several hundred students gathered in front of the central Shaheed Minar at the university starting at 7 pm. They then held a torch procession, circling various important points of the campus.

Coordinators confirmed that students from nearby educational institutions, including City University, Dhamrai Government College, GonoBishwabidyalay, and Morning Glory School and College, participated in the procession.

Nasim, a chemistry student from GonoBishwabidyalay, told this correspondent: "We have staging protests on the streets for the past few days. We fully support the demands of the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement. The full judgment of the High Court states that the government has the authority to increase or decrease the quota in public services. We seek logical reform of the quota system."

Arif Sohel, convener of the JU wing of the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement, told this correspondent, "Yesterday, students from Comilla University and Chittagong University came under attacks during their peaceful programme. We have arranged this torch march to denounce those egregious attacks. We urge the swift identification and prosecution of those responsible. If any hindrances arise in the students' rightful activities, the student community will give a befitting reply."
