A protest march and rally will be held at all the university campuses across the country at 4:00 pm on Friday.
Nahid Islam, one of the coordinators of the quota reform protest, announced this programme at Shahbagh on Thursday night on behalf of the students.
He said, "Our movement has no connection with the High Court order. We demand an emergency session in parliament to pass legislation for a logical resolution of the quota issue. The government bears responsibility for the public hardship resulting from this movement."
Another participant Hasnat Abdullah said, "Those who carried out attacks on the students in Sylhet, Sunamganj, Chittagong University, Comilla University, Rajshahi University and Maulana Bhashani University must be held accountable and brought to justice."
Another coordinator Sarjis Islam, condemning today's attacks on the students in different parts of the country, said, "We are doing a peaceful movement. Our goal is rational reform of the quota system across all government service grades in Bangladesh, not just Grades I and II."
"We seek a permanent resolution to the quota issue through logical reform," he said.
