A new book corner has been created in the central library of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) with the aim of improving South Asian agriculture and increasing agricultural knowledge. The Book Corner was developed with funding from the SAARC Agriculture Centre.

The Central Library of BAU will get about 200 books from SAARC. Currently, the library has more than fifty research books. SAARC Agriculture Center has published more than 200 books on agricultural research and development in South Asia. Books published by SAARC are given to various universities and research institutes for the development of agriculture.

Advanced Studies and Research Committee Co-ordinator Prof. Dr Md. Abu Hadi Noor Ali Khan said these books are rich in information on various types of research on the country's agriculture and livestock resources. Information on research about livestock, poultry, fisheries, agricultural climate, and what kind of measures can be taken in different drought- and salt-prone areas can be found in the books.

Director of SAARC Agriculture Center Md. Harunur Rashid said, "Books published various research done to solve the agricultural problems of eight countries, including Bangladesh. The information in the books helps researchers, postgraduate students, PhD fellows, and teachers in their research work. Researchers can use these books as references for research on agricultural development in South Asia."

BAU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury said, "SAARC books are rich in information. Teachers and students can easily get information about agriculture in different regions of the SAARC countries from the books. By doing this, researchers will be able to use information related to domestic agriculture for sustainable development."
