The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations scheduled for Tuesday have been postponed, an interim government adviser has virtually announced.
“Today’s HSC exams have been postponed,” Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain said in a Facebook post from his verified account at 2:50am.
The decision came around 14 hours after a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Uttara on Monday, killing at least 20 people and injuring more than 150.
The government declared Tuesday a national day of mourning.
However, authorities had reportedly planned to go ahead with the exams as scheduled, drawing criticism on social media.
