It was drizzling and Selim Al Deen Muktamancha of Jahangirnagar University was full to the brim with music and film enthusiast pupils and outsiders.
Those who could grab a seat in this moderately huge amphitheatre were lucky, but many of them had to enjoy the whole show standing, sitting in the branches, and climbing trees. All the hassles while drenched in drizzles, why?
Because the much-hyped Bangla film Hawa's cast and crew, along with Music Band Meghdol and Emon Chowdhury, music producer of the viral song 'Sada Sada Kala Kala' of the film came to perform for the promotion of the film at JU yesterday.
The core promotion part didn’t last more than 15 minutes, the rest of the time was fumed with upbeat instrumental music arrangements of Emon Chowdhury and melody of Meghdol.
The cast and crew, along with the viewers, danced, sang songs and created a total hypnotic environment. Everyone feels it was less promotion, more fun and melody.
In the beginning of the event, the veteran actor and lead character of Hawa, Chanchal Chowdhury introduced the artists associated with Hawa to the audience.
Director Mejbaur Rahman Sumon, Nazifa Tushi, Sumon Anwar, Nasir Uddin Khan, Sohail Mondal, Rizvi Riju, Mahmud Hasan and Bablu Bose, cinematographer Kamrul Hasan Khosru and others were present. Composer Emon Chowdhury, vocalist Erfan Mridha Shiblu and band Meghdol were also present.
According to Team Hawa, the film, set in the heart of the Bay of Bengal, has the excitement of unravelling the mystery. The crew claims that excellent cinematography, scenery, expressions of characters, and captivating presentation will arouse the interest of the audience.
Director Sumon said, "Hawa is a story of the deep sea. A fairytale story of the life of a group of sailors in the deep sea. If you like it, then come to the cinema."
After the introductory episode, the crew of Hawa danced and sang along with the audience.
First, Emon Chowdhury's team performed a tribute to Natyacharja Selim Al Deen's composed song 'Ke Tumi Sundar Kanya'. Then actor Chanchal Chowdhury covered an unreleased track from the movie Hawa written by Basudeb Baul. Later, they sang the song 'Baji' and 'Sada Sada Kala Kala' of lyricist Hashim Mahmood.
After that, all the mind-blowing songs of Meghdol went on for an hour. Apart from the event, a fresco of the poster of the film is painted on TSC, JU.
Chanchal Chowdhury shared with the Financial Express about the differences brought by Hawa Team in movie promotion.
"Many people have different paths in promoting, but our job is to make the movie carefully and deliver the message across the audience. The rest is the responsibility of the audience. Why should I say this, again and again, come to see my movie?”
“Art has a standard which is to prove with work. There is no point in embarrassing the audience. If the movie is good, the audience will say it. Our song that was released is being promoted by the audience themselves."
Chanchal Chowdhury also said, "Today we have received a great response from the audience. And the environment of Jahangirnagar has always been like that. Earlier, also during the promotion of Aynabaji and Debi, we got tremendous response here."
The composer of the crowd-pleasing song 'Sada Sada Kala Kala', Emon Chowdhury said, "The experience of making the song for three years has been amazing. We have received a great response from all over the country. And at today's event in Jahangirnagar too, every person sang the song."
The event was organised by the Zahir Raihan Film Society of Jahangirnagar University. Team 'Hawa' will tour four universities in the country.
The movie is releasing in theatres on July 29. It has received a huge response among film enthusiasts with the exceptional poster, trailer and songs.
