The National Information and Service Helpline '333-4' has been launched today (Tuesday) to receive complaints related to the environment.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury inaugurated the service in a meeting at the Ministry of Environment, where State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak was present.
Besides, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between a2i of the ICT Division and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to facilitate cooperation and coordination in its overall digital transformation.
Environment minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury, while speaking on the occasion, said this MoU will widen the range of digital initiatives aimed at improving government services, increasing internal efficiency, and increasing citizen involvement, in addition to setting up facilities for citizens to report complaints to the ministry.
E-tickets will be introduced at various tourist centres, including safari parks, under the Ministry of Environment in collaboration with the a2i programme, he said.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that from now on, citizens will call 333 and then press 4 to get information about environmental clearance, laboratories, forest conservation, etc, information services and officials of the Ministry of Environment and its subordinate directorates.
Besides, anyone can complain about water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution, biodiversity loss, illegal forest and mountain destruction, and the cutting of trees, he said.
Later, the complaint will be forwarded to the concerned officer's dashboard, Palak said.
The officer will then take the necessary action on the complaint, and the beneficiaries will get updates through SMS or call 333, he added.
