Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Thursday predicted rains coupled with lightning and temporary gusty winds in parts of the country over the next five days.
“Light to moderate rain/thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely at many places Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions and at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions,” the Met office said in a forecast for 24 hours from 9:00 am on Thursday, reports UNB.
Mild heat wave is sweeping over Madaripur, Pabna, Khulna, Jashore, Chuadanga, Kushtia and Satkhira and it may continue, it said.
Day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country.
Besides, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the South Bay around May 26 and the southwest monsoon has already advanced up to Myanmar’s Akyab coast.
