Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes in all divisions, including Dhaka of the country in 24 hours commencing 9:00 am on Sunday.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions,” said a met office update, reports UNB.
The maritime ports of Chittagong, Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower the signal, according to the met office update.
The country’s highest temperature 35.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Chuadanga over the past 24 hours till 6pm on Saturday while the lowest temperature 23.7 degrees Celsius was recorded in Bandarban of till 6:00 am on Friday.
The highest 105 millimeters of rainfall was recorded in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram district in the last 24 hours till 6:00 am on Sunday.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Uttar pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.
One of its associated troughs extends up to the North Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
