A 4-day breast cancer awareness procession ‘pink-road’ will begin on Tuesday, covering 40 areas starting from Teknaf to Tetulia.
Bangladesh Breast Cancer Awareness Forum (BBCAF), a platform of 47 voluntary and non-profit organizations active in the prevention of breast cancer to spread the message of breast cancer awareness among the people of the country, organizes the pink-road procession every year outside the capital in different parts of the country.
Previously, the procession has been held in North Bengal, South Bengal, and the greater Mymensingh region. This year, it will travel from Teknaf to Tetulia, visiting about 40 locations in a pink-decorated bus.
Doctors, health workers, specialist doctors, cancer fighters, organizers, and Sanskritists will join this journey.
Local participants will engage in road meetings, processions, and distribute informative leaflets written in simple Bengali.
The procession departed from Dhaka in a pink bus on Monday and will officially begin after a short opening ceremony at the Teknaf Upazila Complex. The journey will then continue to Tetulia.
Throughout the event, road meetings and informative leaflet distributions will take place at each location. The procession will conclude with a closing ceremony at Tetulia on Friday, November 1.
Volunteers spend time, effort and money to raise public awareness about breast cancer.
Bangladesh breast cancer awareness forum founder and chief coordinator and cancer pathologist Prof Dr. Habibullah Talukder Ruskin and film director and writer Masihuddin Shaker and 20 organizers and volunteers joined the procession.
