Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) has inaugurated an electromyogram (EMG) and a neuromuscular disorders clinic to open new doors of treatment and research for paediatric neurological patients.

Nerve conduction studies (NCS) and electromyogram (EMG) tests play a special role in diagnosing neurological and musculoskeletal disorders in children.

BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Dr Md Sharfuddin Ahmed, the chief guest, inaugurated the facilities at the Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA) and Paediatric Neurology Department of BSMMU.

The Vice Chancellor termed the initiative a significant milestone for BSMMU in extending service to children with special needs.

Emphasising the sensitivity of the children who come to IPNA for services, he stressed the need for doctors to provide more services to these children while highlighting the importance of families doing more to provide comprehensive care to them.

By doing so, the Vice Chancellor believes that children with special needs will become assets for the country.

IPNA is working to develop the talent of special needs children and also providing world-class services in paediatric neurology.

Several doctors and officials of the departments were present during the inauguration ceremony.
