Bangladesh Railway (BR) will start selling advance train tickets for Eid holidaymakers from Sunday (March 24).
The BR will start selling tickets online for Eid passengers for trains scheduled for April 3 and will continue until March 30.
On March 13, Bangladesh Railway Acting Director General Sardar Shahadat Ali said the BR will operate eight pairs of special trains for this Eid, according to local media reports.
As all intercity train tickets will be sold online, the acting DG said the selling of train tickets for the western zones will start at 8:00 am and for the eastern zone at 2:00 pm every day.
Passengers will be able to purchase the tickets for April 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9, on March 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30 respectively, according to the ministry decision.
On the other hand, the BR will start selling the return tickets from April 3, ten days before the scheduled journey.
The railway will provide service to 33,500 passengers daily.
However, one-fourth of the total seats would be sold for the standing tickets in non-AC rooms.
