Trading on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) resumes today (Sunday) after a 10-day Eid vacation.

The market remained closed from June 5 to June 14 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of the Muslims.

Trading on the bourses will begin at 10:00am as usual and continue until 2:30pm, including a 10-minute post-closing session.

The final trading session before the Eid holidays closed higher although investor participation was thin.

The benchmark index of the DSE went up more than 44 points or 0.95 per cent to settle at 4,709 as investors showed buying interest in selective stocks.

In the meantime, Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed unveiled the national budget for FY26 on June 2, which offers several market-supportive measures, including a wider tax rate gap between listed and non-listed firms.

He proposed widening the tax gap from 5 percentage points to 7.5 percentage points to inspire new listings.

The blue-chip DS30 index, a group of 30 prominent companies, gained almost 16 points to close at 1,762 before the start of the holiday, while the DSES index, which represents Shariah-based companies, rose 12 points to 1,029.
