India has imposed a blanket ban on all imports from Pakistan amid soaring tensions between the countries following the deadly terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam, the NDTV reports.
The decision has been taken in the interest of national security and public policy, the Indian broadcaster said, quoting the country’s commerce ministry.
The restriction applies to all products in transit from Pakistan, reports bdnews24.com citing the NDTV.
"Direct or indirect import or transit of all goods originating in or exported from Pakistan, whether or not freely importable or otherwise permitted, shall be prohibited with immediate effect, until further orders. Any exception to this prohibition shall require prior approval of the Indian government," a notification issued by the ministry read.
The move comes in the wake of the Pahalgam attack, which left at least 26 dead, including a Nepali tourist and a local guide.
