At least nine people were killed after a landslide at a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya Upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday morning.
Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, the refugee, relief and repatriation commissioner, three separate landslides occurred between 7:00 am and 8:30 am at camps No. 8, 9, and 10, bdnews24.com reported.
“Rescue work is underway. So far, nine bodies have been recovered,” he said.
Amir Jafar, commander of the APBn-8 assigned to provide security at the camp, said, “Two of the dead are Bangladeshi nationals, while the other seven are Rohingya. The Fire Service is conducting rescue operations.”
